Sarah Harper founded 'Strength and Glow' to help people in Buckinghamshire practice and improve their Pilates whatever their level of experience.

Sarah has been an enthusiastic Pilates student her whole adult life and holds a Diploma in Mat Pilates (Level 3). She also holds a ‘Pink Ribbon’ Pilates for Breast Cancer Recovery qualification (certified by APPI).
​
Sarah moved to Old Amersham in 2018 with her husband Richard and their two children.
​
Sarah is passionate about the benefits of Pilates for overall health and wellbeing. She believes in making Pilates accessible to all and tailoring her classes and sessions to the clients in front of her.

In addition to classes for 'Strength and Glow' she also teaches at the Chiltern Lifestyle Centre.
What is Pilates?
Pilates was pioneered in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates (1883-1967). As a child he suffered from asthma, rickets and rheumatic fever. His parents were told he could die prematurely but he was determined to return his body to peak physical condition. This journey led to the formation of 'contrology' which was the precursor to Pilates as we know it. In 1926 Joseph Pilates and his wife Clara opened a 'body-conditioning gym' in New York just around the corner from the New York School of Ballet. It was here that dancers flocked to him for advice on conditioning exercises and techniques to overcome dancing-related injuries.
